October 9: Friday the 13th (1980, rated R). Once upon a time, a boy drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp staff. Now, camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen the camp.
October 23: Child’s Play (1988, rated R). A widowed mother gives her son a doll for his birthday, unaware that the doll is possessed by the soul of an infamous serial killer.
October 30: Psycho (1960, rated R). A secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer’s client and while on the run, checks into a remote motel run by a young man controlled by his mother. Directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock, “Psycho” is often ranked among the greatest films of all time and is widely considered to be the earliest example of the slasher film genre.
